State routes throughout the country can be difficult to navigate for drivers, as the speed limit and number of lanes can change often. Many times, the speed limit can fluctuate greatly and without much warning when going through a town, and the road can change from a two lane highway to a four lane divided highway based upon the topography and volume of traffic in a particular area. In addition, many state routes do not have traditional exits, which means that cars entering and exiting the road often travel at slow speeds. A recent car accident on State Route 109 in Tennessee claimed the life of one man and caused serious injuries to two others.

According to officials with the Wilson County emergency management agency, the wreck occurred on Mother’s Day during the afternoon. State troopers report that a vehicle was traveling north on the road when it slammed into the back of another car. The vehicle that was struck had slowed down in order for the cars in front of it to turn off of the route.

The initial accident triggered a chain reaction, and a total of five cars were eventually involved. When the car that apparently caused the first accident hit the second car, it crossed into the southbound lane and tragically wrecked head-on into a tractor-trailer. A passenger in that vehicle died at the scene of the accident. Two other people involved in the five-car wreck were airlifted to a local hospital.

When multiple vehicles are involved in a fatal car accident, it may be difficult to determine who is at fault. In Tennessee, family members of a victim who perishes in a similar accident could benefit from discussing their situation with an attorney who is experienced in personal injury and wrongful death litigation. An attorney will be able to discuss the various legal options available after losing a loved one in a car accident.
