tennessee best motorcycle rides

Tennessee has a lot to offer motorcyclists looking to explore the state on their bikes – from lush forests and beautiful rivers to spectacular mountains and thrilling switchback roads. The Terry Law Firm wants to help you enjoy all that the Volunteer State has to offer motorcycle riders, which is why we’ve compiled a list of our favorite Tennessee rides as well as some tips to stay safe and what to do if you are involved in a crash.

What Are the Best Motorcycle Rides in Tennessee?

Tennessee has many fun, scenic routes for motorcyclists to enjoy, including:

  • The Tail of the Dragon – Running along the Tennessee-North Carolina border, this 11-mile stretch of U.S. 129 is famous for having 318 curves along its comparatively short route. One thing to keep in mind is this road is a common spot for races and other events, so check for public events before you go.
  • The Foothills Parkway – This 31-mile stretch of road in rural Tennessee begins at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and winds through some absolutely spectacular scenery. One thing that makes this ride particularly appealing is that semi-trucks and other commercial vehicles are not allowed on the road.
  • The Blue Ridge Parkway – This 80-mile road begins in Tennessee before making its way through North Carolina and up to Virginia. It offers breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is another road where commercial vehicles are not allowed, making for a more pleasant ride.
  • Cherohala Skyway – This road begins in North Carolina and continues into Tennessee along Highway 165 and ultimately takes riders up to elevations of 5,400 feet. If you want a mountainous ride that is not as well-known as the Tail of the Dragon, this is a route you’ll want to check out.
  • Newfound Gap Road – The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of Tennessee’s natural wonders, and this stretch of U.S. 441 that runs through the park is a great way to tour it. This is the lowest pass that runs through the park, and it offers some truly fantastic scenery. The Newfound Gap Road also intersects with several other routes through the park if you want to make a more extended trip.
